The worst feeling in the world
Losing to Spurs is just the worst ; I could not sleep last night as I had recurring flashbacks of their goals hitting the net right in front of me ; I was right on the edge of the away section, and seats like that can turn out to be either be the best in the ground, or the worst in the ground ; Yesterday, they were definitely the latter.
What an absolute bunch of thugs they are ; It was very eventful outside after the match too ; there are reasons why this match does not normally kick off at 4pm on a Sunday ; too much Dutch courage has been consumed, and a load of blokes old enough to know better think that are ‘pwapa nawty’. Running battles all the way up the High Road, all the way back to the station and beyond. Idiots.
Back to the match, and despite a masterclass in having possession but doing fuck all with it, we managed to go in at half time 0-2 down. Again. A familiar story when we finally started playing on 46 minutes, and we got back in the game straight away. I thought at that point we had to equalise ASAP while we had the momentum ; a couple of half chances came and went, and from there it was Spurs who created the better chances as they tried to catch us on the break. With 35,000 people in the ground deserving of our abuse, a few of our own fans decided to turn on their own players and abuse them instead. Nice. Frustration can get the better of us all, but calling one of our players a ‘fucking Welsh C*nt’ is going too far ; Ramsey did not deserve such abuse after switching to right back and doing his best in an unfamiliar position. Sometimes people need reminding that we all support the same team.
I saw a tweet after the game, which kind of summed it up :
From journalist Amy Lawrence :
Vibrant manager and his motivated team : 2
Weary manager and his unmotivated team : 1
And we all know she is absolutely right. We might catch Spurs again, but maybe not this time ; Finishing below them for the first time in 16 years would be a shame as it would be the end of the proud record ; If I were a Spurs fan, I would be embarrassed by that fact instead of celebrating it.
But every day when I wake up, I praise the Lord that I am not a Spurs fan.
The first 24 hours are the worst ; Stay strong, my red and white brothers.
Keep the Faith.

what a shock. OH my arsenal
I can’t be the only Gooner not to be surprised at the performance and result. We’re like a broken record: running smoothly then going badly wrong at the same time, with the same consequences.
The lack of tactical awareness was stunning. The back 4 looked like they had just met.
The Gaffer has to hold his hands up and accept the blame.
