Arsenal 2 v 1 Aston Villa

A wins a win! We needed it! Before the game I felt this was a vital weekend in the count down towards the end of the season and we now just have to hope West Ham and Cit£h hold up their end of the bargain.

Arsenal came out of the traps early, a shot from Jack, one from Santi, and then a double shot from Santi which ended up flying past two defenders and into the bottom corner of the goal. All this inside the first 6 minutes! Still this is Arsenal we looked fragile at the back, Benteke nearly opened us up too.

Arsenal spent the majority with the ball and mostly on the attack but as always the away team played on the break. As the half was dieing out Arsenal would get better chances, Walcott, Giroud, and Arteta all had chances to extend our lead.

Arsenal nearly let in an equaliser straight away in the second half, sloppy, and again the pattern was set of Arsenal domination but Villa chances. Arsenal really stepped it up towards the hour and were trying everything but getting nothing, Santi had just let one fly, and Villa broke away and equalised. The shot was nothing special and Chesney again fumbled it into his net. I don’t doubt Chesney’s ability but would any other keeper in his form still remain unchallenged in goal? Every summer I expect we’ll sign a new keeper and every summer I think it’s a joke we don’t!

Arsenal went straight back on the attacked and Podolski joined in from the bench. Giroud has one tipped over and Mertesacker headed over both from Walcott corners. Finally the winner came on 85! No shock it was Wilshere on unlocked the door spraying it to the left, Nacho touched it into the box and fired a cross to the penalty spot and Santi smashed it home! Class from Santi yet again.

A roar was heard as the full time whistle blew. A big win and felt by all!

I think Wenger should put his best side against Aston Villa. We(the Fans & Arsenal Players) need to see our true talent again. The Squad that I will choose for Saturday will be: Szczesnyz9z(GK)
    Jenkinson(LB), Sagna(CB), Vermaelen(CB), Monreal(RB),
Rosicky, Arteta, Wilshere, Carzola, (Must Have for Midfield)
    Wallcot, Podolski

I hope this will be the squad…
