Arsenal 1 v 3 Bayern Munich

Well we scored……….. erm……… looking for positives.

After a good run of form it’s all come crushing to an end with two bad performances. I can’t say we were totally shit tonight but the difference in class, especially in terms of shape, work rate, and being clinical with the ball was huge. At points it looked like they had two or three more players than us.

Not getting out to the ball, not stopping the cross, and the keeper not getting to the ball. How many times is that now? How about and cross swinging in and the keeper fumbling it? Yep seen that before. Nerves? Confidence? Self Belief? All questioned after the game.

A Mertesacker blocked shot was about the best we had and as we all slumped to our seats at half time. What next?

The ref of course did not help the game. It was bizarre any tackle or anything like it was not only a foul but a yellow card. Bayern seemed able in comparison to do whatever they liked!

Still the ref didn’t affect the result. There was for a time Arsenal pressure. In the 55th minutes a Wilshere corner was headed home by Podolski. A great moment for Luka and it certainly un-nerved Ze Germans!

As Wenger said after the game at 2-1 it looked like we had half a chance of getting another, but then it was 3-1 and it could have been more. The third goal was Vermaelen not knowing what he was doing, not covering Robben, then failing to try and block the cross, and don’t get me started on the keeper again………

It was a hard night to be part of!
