From Blackburn to Bayern

Evening all,

Sorry for the late one. There isn’t much to report on at the moment. A solid win against Sunderland and another clean sheet is always good and I’m sure a lot of players will be rested for the weekends cup tie against Blackburn. I’m sure Wilshere will be rested alongside key personnel such as Cazorla and Arteta. If we’re being honest we should be too strong for Blackburn especially at home and if a good opportunity for players such as Chambo, Ramsey and Diaby to get much needed minutes and hopefully some confidence ahead of Bayern next Tuesday. Arsene will want a ‘professional’ performance and won’t want to rely on Wilshere and Walcott like he did vs Brighton.

Bayern is a different kettle of fish altogether. They’ve been immense this season and have recorded a record number of points at this stage in a Bundesliga season and they’ve conceded one, yes one goal away from home in the league. They dispatched Schalke 4-0 last weekend and after two seasons without a German title they’ll comfortably win it this season. We’re got to be disciplined and we need to take our chances against the meanest defence in Europe. We have the potential but sometimes over two legs the better team does eventually win. We’ve seen it against Barca where they couldn’t beat us at home but away we just struggled. As much as I hate to say it we need a Chelsea vs Barca performance if we’ve any chance of getting through. The most frustrating part is that it’s only the second round and if we qualify for the 1/4s we could still end up with Barca, Madrid, United or Juventus.

In other news the lovely people at SKY haven’t handed us an TV fixtures for the next couple of months except for the obvious Man Utd and Spurs games. That means 3pm kick offs for WBA, Swansea and Fulham all away from home. There’s always an upside when you’re average team.

It’s fun isn’t it.

Have a good one.
