It may be too simplistic an opinion on yesterday’s match, but you could argue that Chelsea beat us because they had a goalkeeper and a centre forward. At the moment, we can’t score a goal, and can’t keep a clean sheet.
We played OK in the second half, but this is probably a moot point as Chelsea were already comfortably ahead and it would have been very different if they had to go for another goal or two.
Normally, we could blame Senderos after Drogba takes us to the cleaners, but this time it was all round sloppy defending that let him in for two simple goals.
Among all the abuse for our non saving goalkeeper and the poor form of the full backs, the centre half pairing of Gallas and Vermaelen has been deemed immune to criticism – I’m not really sure why, as we have conceded loads of goals and normally that position would receive the most stick. Having said that, they both played well again yesterday ; it was their team mates who once again let us down.
Bendtner’s introduction from the bench was greeted rapturously by the Away fans, a reception I was a bit bemused by ; No pressure, Nick! Just a hat trick before the end of the game would be handy. Needless to say, he didn’t really do much, and still doesn’t look 100% fit. Regarding proper game changing substitutions, a few years ago at White Hart Lane, at 1-0 down with 20 minutes to go Wenger made a triple substitution and brought on Bergkamp, Vieira and Ljungberg – That’s what I’m talking about. And yes, we got a result that time. The strength of the bench yesterday was incomparable.
We had a flare in the away end though! It was brilliant ; Well done that man for ignoring the ground regulations and smuggling that in. Having to let it off at 2-0 down was a bit embarrassing though.
As the title of this blog says, we are all in this together, and we win and lose as Arsenal fans ; If you want to break rank and leave comments demanding Wenger be sacked and Walcott buried under a patio, then that is your right, but the last thing we need right now is more negativity.
Get behind the team on Wednesday night, as the Scousers could be just two points behind if they beat us. It is now a massive game, and getting on the players backs is not gonna help anyone. This is the time when Gooners have to stand up and be counted – We all enjoy the good days, but the bad days come around too so we must stand together for a united front.
My last word on yesterday is thus – 90 minutes of football does not create 100 years of history.

Great thread. If we can win this match we will still have hope. And once Van Perie comes back I think we can expect to get a lot of points in our coming games. Not to mention the Champions League which we surely have a shot in with VP back and the whole team firing?
Still proud to be a GOONER
go ahead and moan bitches!

good blog mate. you are so right so right. hope people listen to you and try to stay positive. cos wheter people like it or not, this is the guys we got to stick with until end of season. these are the guys that has to deliver. we live or die by them. I think they will preform better if we cheer for them and sing their names instead of shouting at them. And i also agree that with a striker yesterday, we would have had those 2 goals that at least would have given us a draw…

Yes,we are in this together. But we collectively wanted a striker and a goalkeeper before the Jan window.Just want to ask Wenger if he had proved the team will be stronger in February with or without a new striker then there was nothing to complain about. Where do we go from here?

Good call Cook,i agree 100% this is now the time all Gooners have to stand tall and get right behind the team.
I think a lot of good points have been made over the past couple of weeks from what you can see are true Gooners.
This unfortunatly is dampened by the fair weather supporters shouting this that nd the next thing.
Wenger is without doubt the man to take this club forward to the next level, which is winning titles as he has done before.
Though at the same time he must look at the decisions he made that has cost us games and most inevetibly the leauge. e.g Keeper and centre forward. As well as a leaky defence on occasions.

“My last word on yesterday is thus – 90 minutes of football does not create 100 years of history.”
Couldnt have said it better myself. People need to get over themselves and realise no team is going to win every game, 6 games weve lost, 4 against united and chelsea. We’re still third and it is obvious our consistency against lower teams has improved. If we can win against liverpool and city, were still in the hunt, chelsea and UNited still play each other yet, as well as liverpool playing against them both. its not all doom and gloom, get behind the gunners!
As you mentioned the support at the bridge was great to see and hear, we drowned the chavs with noise all game, keep it up!

WENGER OUT!
Change the WHOLE squad now, go out and buy 25 new players that are good enough, spend loads of money and if it doesn’t work, dont worry about it.
We must buy good, clean, honest hard working players, like the ones I saw yesterday, we should buy that Anelka (he’d look good in an Arsenal shirt), Ashley Cole looks good to, I bet he’d look good in red rather than blue? We should buy him, and Chelsea’s captain, what a player, I understand he is also England captain, we should buy him, I bet he’d be a great roll model to all the kids Wenger has in his squad?
Then we should buy Ronaldo (the fat one and the portugesser), Kaka, Henry & Messi, then Rooney, oh anyone, just buy, buy, buy, then we will rule the world.

Thank you for your positive blog. We will beat Liverpool. Scratch that. We will THRASH Liverpool and end all this talk about the race for 3rd. We can win the league and I have a gut feeling we will.

Karthik ; I suggest you see a doctor about the feeling in your gut as it may just turn out to be an ulcer or something more serious.

were in this together, and getting the piss taken out off us together, for 4 yrs we have been paying prob the most expensive tickets in europe,
were all struggling to pay each season, but we do extra hrs to pay for our passion,
i feel its a big slap in our faces when in november the club announce big proffit £35m and thats without the sales off toure and adebeyor,
then fail to give us a team worthy off such support and cost to watch,
ive been a season ticket holder since 1987, which we have had worse teams but we were getting value for money, over the years,
i dont do many away games but i feel for those that do ie stoke facup, we put out half a team so we could rest players for the big games that we all new we would come unstuck in,
i dont want wenger to go, i want him to get a grip and build a squad mixed with passion, quality, potential expierience, speed, power and skill, all his old morals, please change them back arsene
