Pompey 1 – 4 Arsenal

Another quality trip to the south coast, Pompey will be missed when inevitably they are relegated this season. Meeting the lads for a few pints in the increasingly busy Shepherds Crook then a short walk to an old fashioned ground which still has the feel of being on the terraces.

You have to feel sorry for them that the board allowed CCF ruin the club on his ego trip to the FA Cup.

The fact that they ain’t to good is also handy after a tough run of games. The game started with Pompey thinking they could mix it with Arsenal and then Song slipped let to let Belend Hadj in but that was his last mistake. Almunia dealt with the shot easily anyway. Song would go on and put in a master class.

Diaby had a shot after great midfield play from him and Nasri with Eduardo supplying the cross. It was starting to build Arsenals way more and more. Rambo was tripped 20 yards out after some dazzling foot work. Eddie stepped up left footed and drove it in off Kaboul. One-nil just before the half hour.

Work down the left Nasri down the by-line and crossed it over past everyone, the chance gone, no it hadn’t Eddie sprinted to pick the ball up on the left. Knock it back to Song who drove forward and found Eddie again in the box. Eddie slipped it across and Nasri smashed it low into the back of the net. Just before half time as well. Two-nil!!

Arsenal were cruising and when Rambo made it 3-nil . It was a stroke of Welsh genius. He won it took two big strides, cut it back on to his left foot and drove it home from 20 yards! Beautiful.

Belend, grabbed a goal, Arsenal were sloppy and they ended up with a virtual tap in.

Pompey fans thought they were going to win 4-3. Song put an end to that idea after Arsenal pressure. Diaby gave it to Song, he tried an amazing piece of skill on the edge of the box. The clearance fell to Nasri who took three touches to steady himself before chipping back across the box where Song was waiting to leap and nod it home. A great moment for a guy we’re really going to miss.

Chant of the night has to be “We’re all standing on a future block of flats, a future block of flats”.

A great performance, with a special note for Song, our Cameron Super star. I wish him all the best, to stay injury free, and come back happy and ready to push us forward.
