Arsenal 2 v 0 Stoke

This will not be listed on peoples all time favourite Arsenal game list, or make the top “Emirates 200″ list, but what it did do was restore a lot of confidence and faith amongst those who wear the red and white. Some of the attacking play was fluid and slick and the defending solid.

Almunia will be happy to pick up a clean sheet bonus with many thanks to Gallas and Vermaelen who had no trouble dealing with the constant long balls and throw in you now expect from Stoke. What Stoke don’t have are football players so it was fairly easy for Arsenal to get it down and play ball around them.

How many of you were worried though on 20 minutes when Cesc had his penalty saved? Another one of those days? It was another clear foul by Rory Delap (on Andrey) who surely must give away the most free kicks and penalties in the league. This guy can’t dribble, can’t pass, can’t shoot, and can’t tackle. Unreal.

So we’ve again had 20 minutes of dominance and not scored. Arshavin then shoots on 24 minutes and it goes out for a throw in. 60 seconds later from the same angle it nestles in the bottom corner of the ClockEnd net. Whoop Whoop!! 1-nil to the Arsenal.

Two minutes later Cesc put it goalswards after a scramble, it’s in, it’s past the keeper, oh who’s that in the way on the line? Eboue? Seriously don’t just stand there man!!

We cruised through to half time and, well, in truth the second half. We made it two-nil not until the 78th minute. A lovely 20 yards, outside of the boot, low strike into the bottom corner from Rambo. He looked great when he came on so another plus from the game.

Nice to see a few Stoke scum bags getting locked up. They recon they are the hardcore of the Premier League. I bet a few got a kickin’ down the tunnel after ruckin’ with old bill on their way out.

The negative are injuries to Rosicky and Eboue who join Eddie on the sidelines so we will have to see what training on Monday brings for them but surely Arsene will field a similar team to the Carling Cup lads out in Greece on Wednesday. Then we have two tough away trips. Hopefully Theo and Bendy could be back for those though.

A good win today and role on Anullfield.

Arsenal: Almunia, Sagna, Traore (Silvestre 88), Vermaelen, Gallas, Cesc, Deni, Eboue (Rambo 54), Nasri, Rosicky (Vela 46), Arshavin. Subs not use: Fabianski, Senderos, Merida, Wilshere.

Goals: Arshavin 26, Rambo 79.
