Man Cit€h 3 – 0 Arsenal

It’s hard to fight back against the doom and gloom mungers and those whose opinion on football comes from what they read and hear from the media. But the truth is we’ve lost 3 in 4. It was always hard to see how Arsenal would ever get a result tonight. A full on reserve side -vs- the unlimited and unhampered Eastlands resources.

Though in the first half we looked able to deal with Cit€h but again we come off at half time with the same number of fouls, probably the less physical side, but with 2 bookings to none. Plus the ref is being abused by Bellamy and nothing is done. What have we done wrong? It’s easy to blame a ref after a loss but these guys are so inconsistent, not just game to game, minute to minute.

The danger position was at full back, both of our were having a nightmare. Loads of mistakes and Traore was out of his depth against Wright-Phillips. I am shocked Traore didn’t end up getting sent off. Eboue lacked conviction and made some poor decision. This was highlighted early in the second half when Cit€h took the lead. It was a sloppy goal. Rosicky was weak against Bellamy. Eboue couldn’t be bothered to make any effort to win the ball back and Song fell on his arse!!

Arsenal responded well and had a few decent attacks but the second goal killed us. We gave it away again and then backed off Wright-Phillips for 40 yards and he shot and scored. To make things worse Song, who was having a shit game, was booked for a block on Ireland and misses the game at the weekend. We’re getting plenty of practice without him ahead of ACN.

Bellamy then tried to injure Eboue on with 5 to go. A ridiculous lunge. Punished by a yellow. Perhaps if the ref had shut him up he would have been off and we would have had something to be happy about. That Greedy tw@ was quite tonight and reminded us why we sold him and showed Cit€h what a lazy sod he can be.

We conceded a third as Wilshere and Song ran in to each other instead of Bellamy. He goes past them and crosses for sub Weiss to finish it off. 3-nil. I can’t pretend I’m happy about losing, losing to Cit€h, and being out of a cup. It seems a long time ago, Wolves away, but we should perhaps re-focus to 7th November back and remember how good it was, what the lads can do, and hope we re-install the confidence on Saturday.

I’m bloody well happy I can go Saturday as I thought I’d be missing out. Great news and lets back the lads and get back on track. No November hang over please!!

Arsenal: Fabianski, Eboue, Traore, Silvestre, Song, Rambo, Eastmond (68 Watt), Rosicky, Merida, Vela, Wilshere. Subs not used: Mannone, Bartley, Coquelin, Frimpong, Gilbert, Randall.

Att: 46,015.

    Nice write-up.
City are very strong out wide and really attack the fullbacks. Traore and eboue couldnt handle the wingers well enough. Sometimes it was good attacking play, sometimes just very poor defending.
At least we can say the youngsters didnt let themselves down. It was the older heads who really didnt do themselves justice. Rosicky, eboue and song were all poor on the night.

    Well said Davi.

I think Eastmond was non-exsistant but he’s just a baby but after Liverhoof I expected him to be a bit of a star.
