It just had to happen, the only questions were when and to whom. The answer came on Saturday evening, with the news of the injury to Robin Van Persie. There are plenty of time scales being bandied around this morning, anything from a six week absence to missing the rest of the season. We’ll take the former, please!
We will just have to wait and see, there should be an official line from the club within the next 48 hours or so ; we can speculate all we want until then. Of course, the press are in overdrive now about how our season is ‘in tatters’ and all the usual shit. ‘Gunners Injury Crisis’ and that picture of the badge torn down the middle are surely only a few days away. But what can we do about it? Absolutely nothing. Let’s just get on with it, and smash Sunderland on Saturday.
I would be happy enough if we could get RvP back before the end of the year, the fixture list is not to bad up to that point ; The Chelsea game in two weeks obviously stands out, but we will just have to get past that one with our home record intact.
With Bendtner also being out, it’s all eyes on Eduardo to play the front running role; I think he’s been out of form over the last few weeks, but I see he popped in a couple for Croatia on Saturday night, so that will help. With Rosicky, Arshavin, Nasri, and the skipper rampaging through the middle we have more than enough to cover his absence. Had it been Gallas or Tommy V picking up a long term injury we would be far more worried. Think positive!
Sunderland have got some decent results this season, but as soon as the expectations were raised, they then had a couple of bad defeats ; We have an appalling record up there, and were lucky to get a point last year, but we must win on Saturday.
Hopefully everyone else gets back safe to London Colney with no further injuries ; Le Boss did talk about nasty November from an injury point of view and sadly his worst fears came true. At least there are no more international breaks for ages and we can get back to the real stuff. I watched some of the Russia game, and Arshavin played well, and also watched all of the Ireland /France match ; Gallas and Sagna played well, but it was a really poor game to watch. Being a Gooner with Irish roots, I was not sure which team to support, but it will be France who go through so that’s a moot point.
Come on Arsenal, get well soon RvP. Rot in hell, International friendlies.

It´s a shame that this happened to RvP but I think that Eduardo can replace him just fine. I actually don´t agree with you that he is out of form. For a guy who plays like 10-15 minutes and makes only 3 start appearances so far he has done good. He scored few goals and made some great assists… He will deliver!!

If reports are to be beleived then Arshavin’s dream might be coming true. Eduardo or Vela on the left, Nasri or Theo on the right and Slava in the middle. Simples.
